Birthday lunch at The Ming Room, Bangsar Shopping Centre

Amongst the Oriental Group of restaurants, I think The Ming Room has got to be the most popular one. It's such a shame that it took us so long to finally try out this place.

Dragon i at Komtar JBCC

Komtar JBCC has got to be one of the best mall in JB, and it has a lot of reminiscence to the malls in the KL, owing to the brands they carry, and also the food chains they have! One of them is Dragon i, which I have been eating all the time in KL and couldn't be bothered to blog about it.

An overviwew of my 2015

Year 2015 is coming to an end, as usual, before it ends, here's a brief overview of my 2015.

Before I start, I would like to briefly talk through my year! This year has been incredibly amazing because I have learnt to pamper myself so much so much and I found the love of my life after a lot of nuisances.

So let's jump right in!

January 2015 was exceptionally amazing because I attended the last President's List Award in my entire life and I was over the moon because I have managed to collect all the President's List Award throughout my degree life. Right after the President's List Award, it was my convocation! I was dyingggggg to graduate because I needed my academic transcript to register myself as a Ph.D student. While I thought it would be just another humdrum event with loads of speeches and a lot of waiting, I was informed by my lecturer to dress up for a photo-shoot during the graduation rehearsal. The graduation committee made the whole thing very mysterious and I did not know what award I was getting until the award giving session. I was so overjoyed that I was awarded the Academic Excellence Award! BUT! I felt a little upset inside due the fact that I wasn't eligible for the Chancellor Award aka the mother of all awards, lol. Still, I was happy for my own achievement! I promised myself that I would graduate with an award and I am super glad I achieved what I had set.

In the beginning of 2015, I was still seeing my dermatologist, and I could still remember that I told him I would like to continue with the medication at least until CNY so that I would have clear skin for CNY! And I had been working out religiously too because I wanted to show off my abs during CNY. I have also got my hair dyed red for the very first time in my life! I felt so not myself in the beginning and I thought it made me look pale, but I have grown to like it after time. We have also gotten ourselves a new camera so hoorrayyyy to all the awesome photos we have been seeing in the blog! CNY was of course marvelous, we visited my mum's hometown and they thought our fashion was over the top! Oh well....

January and February 2015 were rather busy for me because I had to train a few students but it was really fun training people. Although I felt challenged sometimes when some students spoke brusquely to me, but I think I handled them well.

March was mum's birthday and that was when our obsession for the Oriental Group restaurant or upmarket Chinese food thickened.

It was also somewhere around March that I have joined, I am not sure if that's the web url though as I have deleted my account. Not gonna lie, got A LOT of people showing interest at me daily and my mail was exploding, but in the end I only had proper conversation with this Sagittarius guy who is interested in baking and has pretty good knowledge in both research and health sciences. Kept in contact for about two months but we lost contact eventually.

My prof has also recruited a part time RA to work with me and assist me because my knowledge in research was and is still lacking. Gotta admit that I had quite a bit of distaste towards this guy named S, because of his pretty calculating attitude and he talks too much. But time after time, when I got to know him better, we became good friends. I could still remember the first day he reported himself at my lab, after exchanging merely a few sentences, he guessed my horoscope accurately right away and boy was it mind-blowing! And all thanks to him, I became superstitious! HAHAHA!

I have also applied for PTPTN loan payment exemption.

Jasmine's birthday celebration in April, we opted for Chinese food too! After a lot of chasing and probing, I finally got my PhD offer letter in late April and finally got myself registered as a PhD student. It felt amazing to see my own student card! One step closer to my dream!

The following few months of study was hectic and stressful. I had to travel down to HKL very frequently just to get our study samples sorted out. I had to work till around 9pm every Wednesday and I normally just lived like a zombie for the next two days and expecting prof to understand the exhaustion I had but he never gets it. LOL.

Somewhere around May I have become more and more into arts and started visiting art exhibition. It was rather awkward for beginners like us who had almost zero knowledge in arts. Hahahaha! But I have also learnt that if we are daring enough to breakthrough and try out new things, it is not that hard after all, and we will all become better with time. It's only the beginning that is the hardest.

Attended research week in UM again this year. And I remember attending a Western Blot workshop, who were given by speakers from Hong Kong, who were the delegates from Abcam. Spotted this really charismatic speaker RC whom I fell head over heels for. All because of him, I started using LinkedIn. We exchanged a few mails and the excitement in me was overwhelming when he told me he remembered me from the talk.

Went to Singapore for a conference organized by Abcam, made two new friends from Sabah who were super friendly and they kept inviting me to visit them. Of course, I had also met RC from the talk before and became good friends with him. He is such an inspiration!

Watched a standup comedy live for the very first time and boy was it goooddddddd! I laughed for an hour straight of laughing, non stop. I laughed boisterously and it was therapeutic. Now I am itching to watch more stand-up comedy. Hehe. I have also attended another conference at Hilton KL, where I have made a lot of PhD friends. From there I have learnt a lot about studying and working in Europe countries and I was crazy enthusiastic about my future career development in Europe, I spent the next few weeks looking through vacancy and writing CV etc. But just like how I gave up my MCAT last year, I gave up looking and decided I should just work hard with what I am working on now  and graduate first.

Joined Tinder and my life has changed completely. I suddenly had so many people to meet up and so many people to talk to that my phone was always dying. But I am thankful for the acquaintance with these people, it was with these people that I now know who are the good and bad boys; people who approach with ulterior motives and people who are genuine. Valuable life lesson. Besides than Tinder, I have got people talking to me on LinkedIn too. Thought BJ was a good person but damn can't stand his self-absorbed character.

Somewhere in August, I got the chance to travel to HK to attend a conference with the Sabah friend I made earlier this year. The whole trip was challenging but fun! Through this trip, I have learnt how to be alone, and how to travel alone. Made a wish at the Chinese Cupid for the appearance of my kind of ideal man in my life and then left it at the back of my mind, because I wasn't completely superstitious!

In August, Jasmine left to Perlis and we traveled there together. It was pretty difficult to be apart from her because she is the youngest at home and I was so used to talking and hanging out with her. It was of course more difficult for her because she had to be away from all of us and she often called home crying saying that she missed home.

Less than a month after my return from HK, I received a message on FB from my old old old friend. Well, he is not exactly a friend of mine, but it's a name I know for the longest time. I had no idea how and where I got to know his name, but I just knew him and knew how he looked like. So I replied his texts and talked to him. I wasn't really interested in him initially so I can't really remembered what exactly happened. But it was interesting talking to him, because he seemed to know a little bit of everything and he is really really really funny. AND! Little did I know he was actually my kind of ideal guy that I had wished for!

Called PTPTN to check on my exemption status and was told that I have failed in my application and they have lost my documents. I was furious and I was determined to bring this issue to the press if they fail to handle it well.

About a fortnight after talking to D, I fell sick and it was flu. I still remember he insisted that I took medication or he would come to my uni to make sure I ate my medication. I wasn't interested in him so I didn't want him to come if I'm honest, so I told him I would be happy if I could get a bouquet of flowers, peonies to be specific. I knew he wouldn't be able to make it, but deep down I thought if he could make it then heck I should really give him a chance and see how it goes. Well, he failed of course. HAHHAHAHAH! And before taking a nap I randomly told him that I was craving for fruit juices. And yes, he came to my uni to deliver fruit juices for me after a couple of hours. Frankly speaking the first time I saw him flashing a smile while handling the fruit juices to me, I thought he was pretty cute! So I told my friends about this guy whom I thought worth a try. BUT! When I saw him in person, I thought his muscular body was too huge for my liking, so I started shunning the idea of him being the one. And what made the whole process a lot easier was when he spilled a truth to me which made me feeling enraged and put me in dismal.

But he came back stronger and after some time, I started to look at only his good sides. I started giving him chances and I believe it was on his birthday that we both confirmed our feelings for each other and started embarking on a brand new life journey together. Since then my life revolved around him! LOL!

Good things started to fall into place because after a lot of trouble I finally got my loan payment exemption so now I am properly debt-free!

Early November when D's relatives visited him, that was the time he properly introduced me to his family members. And they were so kind to celebrate my birthday earlier with me, some of the aunts even gave me angpau so touched. T_T

And then it was Zahidah's wedding, and D was so kind to come with me. He had also made his promise by buying me a bouquet of peonies for my birthday and I was beyond touched. It was through this little things that I know that this man is willing to do anything to keep his promises and make me happy.

Another good thing that has happened was that I nailed a presentation to the Prince Songkla University delegates. I was under a lot of stress prior to the presentation but I prepared myself and gave the best during the presentation. I was sooooo happy to receive a lot of compliments from all the professors, Deputy Dean inclusive on my outstanding performance. It has also driven me to work harder and achieve more in the rest of my academic years!

And here comes December- Aishah's wedding! So happy that my twinnie bestie has found the love of her life and I wish her the best of luck! And also many thanks to D who's willing to drive all the way to Johor with me and took good care of my well-being in the rain and under the sun. I have never been taken such good care before and I am truly touched by his every little action.

I am so happy that I have learnt a lot and met a lot of people in 2015, but of course I am most thankful to have found D, such an amazing man who I could see a future with. I have never been this happy. I look forward to more amazing years ahead!

Happy Things

My long weekend was splendid, that explains the rather slow updates on my blogs.

So anyway, I have many things that kept me happy for the first week of December and here are they!

1. These 2 pairs of loafers
D was super kind to offer driving me down to Mitsui Outlet Park for some shopping.
We are both suede loafers lovers,
and after such a long search,
we have finally found identical looking male and female loafers at Sacoor Brothers!
I am just so glad that D is always trying to look all matchy with me,
but not going over the top.
And we thought couple loafers are way more subtle than using couple tshirts.
It is just so awesome to have someone who shares the same taste,
and think the same way.

2. Scallops
Because it is my favourite food.
And D always make sure I have the best meal,
by buying me all of my favourite food.
It is just so sweet that he would automatically order my favourite food,
and he always know what I'd order or pick.
D made sure I am pampered in every way possible.

3. Homemade brunch
Because D knows how much I love my breakfast,
so he made sure to do grocery shopping with me,
and picked all of my favourite ingredients,
and with his magical hands he turned all the ingredient into a well cooked meal.
I love love love D's cooking.
It was all his effort and thoughts which make all the meals he prepared even tastier.

4. This photo at Mandarin Oriental Hotel
Because it was the first time I met his extended family.
And he was being super super super caring,
taking care of me so so so well.
He constantly checked on me to see if I have eaten well,
if I felt comfortable,
if I needed more water,
if I felt hot,
if I liked the food and the list goes on and on.
No man has ever been so kind to me!
And I absolutely love it when D wears a blazer,
and wore the ensemble that I picked for him. <3

5. Mango Sticky Rice
Because he spent the entire morning waiting,
just so he could bring me to dine at a Thai restaurant for lunch.
I truly appreciate all of his effort and time,
just to see me or spend a little time with me.
I always thought the best gift a person can ever give to anyone,
is time and attention.
And these two are so generously given by D.
D was willing to order glutinous rice even though he doesn't eat rice!
He even helped me to finish more than half of the dessert.
Most of the time,
I feel real bad for interfering D's proper lean diet,
but he never even whined or had any comment at all.
A really great guy indeed.

A Pie Thing with Worthy Book Experience

Love trying out new places but don't know where to find them? Love exploring new places but worrying about the thinning of your wallet? Fret not because The Worthy Book 2015/2016 has got you covered!

Happy Things

1. This life-changing comment from D.
Because.... Had he not commented on my photo that day,
I might not have replied his private message and talked nicely to him.
And I love walking down the memory lane and reminiscing good times,
so it was especially memorable when I looked back at this comment,
and wonder to myself,
how my life has changed ever since he came into my life.

2. This wine-udon D cooked for me.
It was the time of the month,
where he knows I had to battle with unforgiving cramp.
So he woke up early to cook these for me,
and deliver it to me early morning,
so that I would have time to have this for lunch,
despite my busy schedule.
And I must emphasize that it tasted soooooooooo heavenly.
It warmed my tummy, and it definitely warmed my heart and soul.

3. These mini hand creams from my BFF
Because my BFF is the only friend who would still gift me on my birthday.
Anddddd.. Let's face it,
who doesn't like being gifted on their birthday?
It was super cool when I could guess my gifts right away when I saw the packaging.
That's how well we know each other.
I too really appreciate her time for a little birthday celebration with me.

4. A little birthday gift from Laneige
Because... They are just so generous with their gift.
I never expect to receive anything from them apart from the birthday discount and double point,
but upon paying at the registry,
she took out this nicely packaged gift and told me,
it was a birthday gift for me.
I have always wanted to try out their lip products,
and I had been itching for some new nail colours,
so these just made me really happy!

5. Simple lunch with D.
Because... D always make sure that I am well fed.
I had to run an experiment in the morning,
so I really appreciate his time,
waiting patiently for me to finish my experiments and clear things up before I could head out for lunch with him.
And... Regardless of the times I had been stressing I could eat any hawker stall food for normal days,
he would always always always bring me to eat some nice food.
He definitely takes good care of me,
when he blew all the food to cool them down,
before putting those into my mouth.
Appreciate all his effort to make me the happiest woman on earth.

Happy Things

1. This perfume given by D
Because D loves this scent a lot,
and he'd always wished that I would use it.
D even got a matching one for himself.
is achieved when your bf gives you a perfume,
and you love the scent too. :D

2. This home-made English Breakfast by D

Because he knows how much I loved Big Breakfast,
so he got all the ingredients quietly without me knowing,
and he made all these for me.
Although it is kinda cheating to prepare such breakfast,
but I loved how he personalised the taste,
they tasted sooooo gooodddd!

3. Ginger tea and snack
Because D is constantly worried about my cramp during that time of the month,
when we both spotted this,
he insisted that he would buy for me,
regardless of how many times I refused his offer.
He also got me this snack,
that he knew for sure I would love them.
A man truly loves you,
when he takes care of you during your weakest time,
and know your taste inside out.

4. Macaron Ice cream
I could still remember so vividly,
that ever since I told D how much I love macarons,
he'd never stopped paying attention to all things macarons.
We found this when we were strolling in a mall,
and he got this lovely little snack for me which made my day.
My man sure knows how to pamper me.

5. French toast
Because it was just a random request,
and my man turned it into reality.
My man always always always give me anything I want.
And it is especially touching when he served these food to me,
with sweat all over this forehead,
telling me he has failed it.
But to me, these are the best french toast and pan fried vege I have ever tasted in my life.

Thanks D for constantly doing things to keep me happy.
I am truly blessed.

Ms. Red Ruby and Mr. Sticky Rice @ Atria Shopping Mall, PJ

I have seen the adv of Atria Mall for a myriad of times but the thought of paying it a visit never crossed my mind, until that day where we have finished our dinner in PJ and we didn't know where to go next.

Art Workshop at Gallery Petronas, KLCC

My sister and I dropped by Petronas Art Gallery one day to view some arts by the famous sculpture artist Oliviero Rainaldi. Upon leaving, we subscribed ourselves to all the events of this art gallery.

Oriental Pavilion, Jaya 33

If you have read my blog herehere and here, you would have known my growing obsession with upmarket chinese food, and my burning passion to try out all the restaurants under the Oriental Group of restaurants.

Happy Things

Because it is our first time attending a wedding reception together.
And D was willing to drive the distance crossing state just so that we could attend this wedding reception.
Anddddd... Wedding reception is always a happy event.
I personally love attending wedding reception,
it is so heart-warming to see lovely couples tie their knots.
And I was very happy to see one of my best colleagues ever has finally married to the one she loves.

Because D loves cooking for me,
and I love to eat whatever he cooks for me.
He was extremely embarrassed about me snapping a photo of this lovely dinner,
but I had to,
because I just love D's cooking.
And... You know your man is a keeper,
when he constantly cooks for you. <3

No matter how frequently I see D,
it still gives me that inexplicable joy if I could spend my lunch time with him.
It is soooo recharging, soothing and relaxing to be able to chat with him,
and spend time sitting by his side,
eating something nice with him amidst the busy day.
He always have the power to make everything mundane appear more interesting,
and he always know how to cheer me up.

 Because I love my desserts,
but I need to cut down on sugar intake,
andddddd I can't take dairy products,
so he got these as a replacement for my birthday cake,
which is absolutely adorable.
He even added extra sweet potato and taro balls,
just because I loveeeeee chewyyyyy foodd!
When you are with the person you love the most,
even the simplest things like these,
brings great joy!

Because it was 9pm,
and I was only able to get home after stuck in the traffic for 4 hours.
D knew I was extremely exhausted and frustrated,
so he delivered this to my house,
and spent a lovely half an hour with me,
just so that I could end the day with the smile,
and forget about the long hours I spent on road.
I am so lucky that my man is constantly finding ways to eliminate all the desolation in my life.
I am walking on air every time D is by my side. :)

Happy Things

It's time for another dose of happy injections again!

Because it is always sweet to receive souvenirs from colleagues
whenever they return from a trip!
This girl who shares the same birth date as me,
came back from korea and she kindly got us face mask,
and a lucky charm which gives luck on having child I think?

Because D has got to be the best actor I have ever seen in real life.
He came to visit me, pulling a sad face,
saying he was late to the mall last night and the juice stall was closed.
But he secretly hid these 3 babies at the seats behind!
He just keeps getting better!
D never cease to surprise me! <3

Because D loves being all matchy matchy with me,
and I love being all matchy matchy with him too!
And what makes me really happy was that he used this photo as his FB cover photos,
and it's especially meaningful to me,
because cover photo is visible to everyone,
and it's huge on his profile.
I have claimed my territory! YEAY!

Because D promised to get me peony roses wayyyyyyyyyy backkkk,
but it wasn't the season for peonies.
I told him to save it for special days.
And he gave me a big OKAY!
Which is why, I felt absolutely touched when he did it.
D never never never break promises.
I seriously did not expect to receive peonies at all,
because it's hard to find and it's rather pricey.
So I was over the moon when he handed me these for my birthday celebration.
D really knows how to make me happy.
Andddddd I really appreciate D's effort.
D is such an important part of my life.

Fa-Ying by Rama V Thai Restaurant @ Paradigm Mall

Fa-Ying, defined as Princess in Thai, is a modern Thai Restaurant and Bar, which is also a sister brand of Rama V who has securely claimed its first place in the Thai Fine Dining industry in Malaysia.

Happy Things

After the first time D saw me using that shabby backpack I got from a conference on a daily basis,
D had been looking at laptop bags.
Even if I didn't mention I needed one.
One day, D just flashed this in front of me,
asking if I needed a new backpack.
And he even helped me to transfer all my items into this bag.
It's so touching how D always notices the smallest detail about me,
and making effort to make me feel better,
look better,
he meant it when he told me he wanted to give me a better life,
and he would give the best to me.

D is a huge fan of molly!
So it gave me a lot of joy to see him grinning from ear to ear when I gave it to him.
He even brought it around.
It's really adorable how he would even take care of a plush toy,
even though he is a macho man.
A true man,
is always willing to condescend for the woman he loves.
And I am proud to say,
I am in love with a man!

D knows I am a hoarder of stationeries,
and he got me these special ones randomly, when he was at a stationery store.
I seriously think there is no one who knows me better than D does.
He knew it instantly that I would love these when he landed his eyes on these colours,
and he was absolutely right!
And what's cuter was that he hid these pens and asked to look for it.
My man sure knows how to keep things interesting!

It means so much to me,
that D would travel all the distance to deliver tea and sandwich to me,
on days I am too tired,
and too busy for a proper meal.
It's really heart-warming that my man always puts me first.
What's most important,
was the support and encouragement he gave when he came to deliver food to me.
I can't even tell how much I enjoy spending time with him.

Because D actually stands for Doraemon!
D has everythinggggggggggg....
I told him I wanted EOS lip balm,
and he whipped out 4 immediately!
This is insane!
It's just so marvellous that D takes care everything about me so well,
from head to toe,
he always made sure I am in the best condition.
I have said it so many times,
but I can't help mentioning again,
D is the best man alive.
