We'd all remembered vividly that upon passing by this shop the day before, we have seen throngs of people flooding this place. At that very moment, I was really curious as to how can the Oz get so lazy with doing their laundry, and how they'd rather brave the cold standing outside the shop, just to get their chances to get their laundry done.
BOY WAS I WRONG! These people weren't even there for the laundry! Laundry in disguise on the outside, it's a whole new world inside, a food heaven!
"LUCKY CHAN IS AN ENIGMA WRAPPED IN A RIDDLE, WRAPPED IN A DUMPLING THEN DEEP-FRIED.A self-described ‘international man of mystery’, LC is the polyester suit-wearing mover and shaker of William Street laundries. No one really knows where he came from – or where he’s going."
I must say they have a pretty interesting concept behind this shop!
Now why do they sell Asian food? And why is this concept so well accepted amongst the local community?
It has to trace way back to before Federation, Chinese people began moving into Western Australia in hopes of finding new lives and prosperity. These migrants started founding business based on their expertise and has since then marked this place where they call their new home. It is from here that the concept of the Chinese laundry was introduced and later restaurants, cafes and small eating houses that served the delicious food of their homeland started mushroom all around WA.
Today Perth is a melting pot of migrants from all of the Asian countries including Vietnam, Singapore, Malaysia, India, Indonesia, Philippines, China, Hong Kong, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Burma, Cambodia and Brunei. And, Northbridge is home to many of these cultures. Which is why Lucky Chan has decided to join in the forces to connect the past and to celebrate the future!
Look at all the clothes displayed at the outside of the restaurant,
and they even loaded some clothes into the washing machine,
who would've thought it's actually a restaurant?
This place is greatly loved by the people in the neighbourhood, tourists who visit Northbridge, as well as people who travelled all the way from the other side of Perth just to get a taste of their delicious food!
This place is not only famous for their delicious food, there are a lot of people who are here for their draught beer, signature cocktails & wine too!
I have heard too much rants saying that Perth is a boring place without shops open past 7pm!
This is not the case in Lucky Chan's!
They operate till midnight, so it's the perfect place for gatherings over beer till midnight,
and also absolutely apt for late dinner or supper!

This place has 3 levels! Amazing or what!
From outside it really looked nothing like this.
From outside it really looked nothing like this.
The upper levels, more privacy,
but similarly good food and drinks!
Seasonal Ramen -$15.90
The items for seasonal ramen changes each month, so make sure you ask the friendly staff for your seasonal ramen.
But ours that day was incredible!
The marinated char shu was thick and juicy, flavourful on its own, but even tastier with the broth.
Miso broth was thick and absolutely delicious,
it was a delight eating those crunchy and refreshing vegetables with the broth too!
Umami Monster ($14.90) - Vegetarian
Sweet tomato, corn, marinated shiitake and fried tofu.
Despite being a vegetarian dish, it was out of the world!
Corn which is sweet on its own added sweetness to the salty broth,
so it was really refreshing.
Marinated shittake was divine too!
I finished everything within minutes!
Too good!
Cheeky Ramen - $14.90 (Chef's choice)
Braised pork cheek, spicy red miso, marinated shittake, chinese greens, sweet tomator, sesame.
This dish was slightly spicy, but it was great for the cold weather.
Pork cheek was tender and full of flavour whereas vegetables added some crunch to the dish.
