Fine Japanese Dining @ Iketeru, Hilton PJ

With Iketeru's long-lived reputation as the best authentic Japanese cuisine in town, there was no better place to celebrate the anniversary of two Japanese cuisine addicts.

Despite its location on the 8th floor just next to the swimming pool, stepping into the compound of Iketeru instantly takes you away from the lively laughter from the pool into absolute tranquility.

Iketeru takes you away from the hustle and bustle of the city with its harmonious colour coordination of grey, white and green had an incredible soothing effect to the eye, the relaxing sound of the man-made water fall and the riot of sun lights shining through; it's hard to believe we were in the central of Kuala Lumpur.

Opt for the absolute serene and Zen overflowing al-fresco seating area or the opulent and refined air-conditioned room for ultimate comfort.
If you're willing to splurge, they also have private rooms for intimate celebrations or business meetings at an additional surcharge of RM100.

For starter, we ordered Edamame (RM19)

NASU DENGAKU (RM41)
Eggplant baked & coated with soy bean paste
Tender and spongy on the inside, eggplants which are already flavourful on its own made even more appetising with the thick soy bean paste smothered on top of them.
Also, enjoy a burst of nutty flavours every now and then from the white sesame seeds.

DRAGON ROLL (RM58)
Grilled eel, mock crab leg, lettuce, cucumber & avocado
The creamy avocado went perfectly with the equally smooth and buttery grilled eel.
Crunchy cucumbers and lettuce balance out the overly smooth texture of the main ingredient.
That was my ideal Yin and Yang in a dish.

GINDARA SHIOYAKI RM108
Grilled cod with salt
Simple but surprisingly palatable.
The Cod is as fresh as you could get.
Peeled in slices and melts in an instant.
An understated sumptuousness that shouldn't be missed.

Since we were there on a weekend, it would be a shame to miss out on their special weekend bento box.

We went for the most protein laden amongst the three options and it was sumptuous!
TEPPANYAKI BENTO
Comprises of:
Fresh salad with wasabi ponzu dressing
Two kinds of sashimi
Steamed egg custard “chawanmushi”
Prawn & vegetable tempura
Salmon & scallop with miso butter sauce
Beef sirloin or Chicken & lamb with garlic sauce
Steamed rice & miso soup
Ice Cream
Coffee or tea

Medium rare beef sirloin, tender and juicy in every bite.
Garlic sauce lightly elevated the flavours without being too overpowering.

The delicate texture, the vivid colours and subtle flavours are the tell tale signs of the level of freshness.
These sashimi ticked all the boxes!

Fresh Scallops with the size bigger than two of my thumbs combined.
Slightly flavoured with miso butter to enhance its original sweetness, melts in your mouth.
Quite an experience!

Black Sesame ice cream with fruits at the side.
The creamy consistency that melts in your mouth coupled with the perfect level of sweetness, this dessert marked a wondrous end to our filling luncheon.

This place is an exemplary venue for celebrating special occassions!
