Kuala Selangor has rose to become a famous touristy place,
not just to people from Selangor,
but also to people outside of Selangor,
all thanks to its close proximity to the sea,
you get a vast variety of fresh seafood.
And seafood restaurant has long mushroomed all around Kuala Selangor
D's friend, Zhi Yang, returned to Malaysia during Christmas break,
and a catchup session must ensue.
ZY kindly invited all of us head down to Kuala Selangor for some seafood feasting.
ZY's mum has kindly booked a few dishes for us,
and a nice river view seats for us at the Jeti Restaurant.
As reservation was made beforehand,
food was served almost immediately!
We had some Stir Fry Yau Mak (Romaine Lettuce)!
Which is pretty much a staple style of cooking veges in seafood restaurant.
We gotta go as simple as possible for the veges because all the seafood dishes are heavily flavoured.
Thought this dish was okay!
Not too impressive but it wasn't bad!
Fried Mantis Prawn with Salty Egg Yolk.
I love love love any dishes that involve salty egg yolk,
and I can even eat salty egg yolk itself with rice.
This was cooked quite nicely,
it didn't leave a greasy and oily residue behind,
and it was fresh and crunch.
Hot Plate Tofu Mushroom on Egg Bed.
Ordered a little bit of tofu too!
Ordered a little bit of tofu too!
Because.... Chinese loves tofu?
Love the way it was cooked!
I love anything with thick gravy and strong flavouring like this!
It was sour and sweet with a hint of spiciness,
these are the exact combination of my favourite tastes!
Teo Chew Style Steamed Pomfret
Although I am not a fan of steamed fish,
Although I am not a fan of steamed fish,
but I thought this was okay!
They were really generous with their onions, tomatoes and chilli.
And these have greatly enhanced the taste of the dish.
The fish was fresh too!
Salted Steamed Crab,
which was never my type of way of cooking crabs.
But steamed crab is the best way to taste the freshness and the sweetness of the crab meat.
D was painstakingly removing all the shells for me,
even ZY had to complain that I only ate with my eyes. HAHHAHAHA!
Oh well, I am a baby like that. hehe.
After the meal we spent quite some time discussing about life and career and America with the bunch.
I did more listening than talking because I don't really know about the people there,
it was still really fun nonetheless.
Then we headed to one of the famous touristy spot for some sightseeing!
Didn't know there was so much to see in Kuala Selangor.
And if you're willing to drive another 45 minutes, Sekinchan is there,
and they have more things to see,
and more food to eat!
Although it was a long, hot and sweaty day,
i had so so so much fun with D and I truly enjoyed the day with D.
