Ramadhan buffet 2018: TPC KL Buffet of the year- Selera Muhibbah

With the fasting month drawing nearer, I believe many are already planning what to treat themselves to at the end of the day.

If you are still undecided where to head to, why not dine for a charitable cause

TPC KL buffet of the year themed Selera Muhibbah returns with a bang this year with a total of 22 stalls along the poolside plus an entertaining live band to serenade diners.
Commencing from the 19th of May, this sensational buffet of the year will last up to three weeks!
Each ticket is sold at RM95 nett for member and RM110 net for visitors.
Early birds who purchase before 19th of May could even score a bargain at only RM80 nett (members) and RM95 nett (visitors) per pax

As mentioned earlier, TPC Kuala Lumpur is giving back to the society in this holy month of Ramadhan. For each TPC Kuala Lumpur Buffet of the year voucher sold, TPC KL will donate RM1 to underprivileged homes
And Selera Muhibbah aims to raise at least RM10,000.

Set amidst lush greenery, this striking building has architecture flourishes reminiscent of an understated French château.
The building's timeless elegance were also complemented with the classic Malaysian touches which you may spot all around the premise.
If I was blindfolded all the way here, I would have a hundred-percent mistaken myself at a palace.

Spacious and lavish indoor dining area, ideal for hosting big family gatherings, or catching up sessions with close friends.

The indoor dining area is surrounded by immaculately maintained and manicured lawns, trees and sand which makes up the golf course.

With the buffet stalls set around the olympic-sized pool, this place emanates nothing but utter tranquility, which would be especially useful after a long day of fasting.
I would recommend arriving earlier and take in the fresh air to refresh your mind before indulging in the delicious food prepared.

With so much food options to choose from, we honestly didn't know where to start.

For appetisers, choose from the myriad choices of Ulam-ulam kampung (local salads and condiments).

Condiments include: Sambal Belacan, Tempoyak, Sambal Nenas, Sambal Machcan, Sambal Manga, Sambal Tomato, Rojak Buah-buahan, Pasembor, Kerabu Taugeh, Kerabu Daging, Kerabu Kacang Botol, Kerabu Terung, Kerabu Kacang, Acar Buah-buahan, Jelatah Timun Nenas, Pegedal Ayam dan Ikan Perkasam.

Tid bits: Ikan Masin Sepat, Ikan Masin Gelama, Ikan Masin Bulu Ayam, Telur Masin, Jeruk Mangga, Jeruk Betik, Jeruk Cermai, Jeruk Kedodong dan Jeruk Buah Pala.

Soup and rice porridge are also served to keep patrons hydrated while dining.

 Sup Tulang Rawan

Bubur Lambuk

To fuel your body with sufficient energy,
patrons are provided with two types of rice: white rice / tomato rice.

My favourite has got to be the tomato rice.
Cooked with roasted cashews, sultanas, this rice is flavourful on its own, but is made even delicious when topped with gravy.

The traditional food served was also tasty and wholesome.
But if I had to choose a winner, it is hands down, the rendang!

Pucuk Ubi Masak Lemak dengan Keledek Merah

 Pajeri Terung

 Ikan Patin Asam Pedas

 Telur Masak Kurma

Udang Masak Merah dengan kacang peas

Ayam Masak Hitam Manis

Daging Rendang Tok Perak
Stir-fried with abundance of shredded coconut and a generous amount of spices,
this dish was absolutely appetising.
It was also surprisingly non-greasy!

The highlight of Selera Muhibbah Ramadhan buffet is definitely the food stalls!

It always make me appreciate the food even more when I see the earnest people behind the stalls serving food on a cook-to-order basis to ensure freshness and tirelessly prioritising patrons' break fasting experience over their own tummy.

 Griddle Cabbage Pancake

Mashed potato

Asam Pedas Lok Lok

 Carrot Cake Istimewa
I was so stoked to see them serving this traditional Chinese dish, which I believe have been a favourite amongst fellow Malay friends too!
It's very much similar to Fried Kuey Teow, but carrot cake is used in place of Kuey Teow, which provides a chewy texture.
I know it may sound bizarre, but this carrot cake is potentially the most delicious carrot cake I have eaten in my entire life.
Each and every piece of the carrot cake was evenly coated with thick caramels which gives the carrot cakes its flavour.
Expect a harmonious blend of savoury, sweet and spicy tastes all in one dish!

Roti Canai
A staple Malaysian food.
While it may not seem like it's anything special,
the dhal though, is out of this world!
The dhal is boiled to a creamy texture akin to that of a pumpkin soup and the lentils were so finely ground that it's almost undetectable.
Creamy on the toungue, expect nothing but a burst of flavour when paired with the roti canai!

Satay Bakar

Mee Rebus
An absolute dark horse amongst all the food.
Without flashy decor, this dish uses fresh ingredients to bring out the authentic flavour.
Flavourful broth and springy noodle, couldn't have asked for a better comfort food.

Kway Teow Goreng

Lidah Bakar

Kambing Bakar
Another must-try!
Tender and juicy with an aromatic fragrance that is released upon biting, their roast lamb was the perfect definition of melt-in-the-mouth-roast.
Slow roasting breaks down the fibres and makes the meat so tender as to fall off the bone.
Those who are afraid of the grassy taste of the lamb could try them with some mint sauce.
It masks the grassy taste without totally masking the roasted fragrance.

Kak Mah Goreng-goreng

Onde-onde
Not my favourite. The skin was too thick for my liking.

Apam Balik

ABC

Those with a sweet tooth will find themselves getting lost in this aisle of paradise.
Choose from tropical fruits, local and french desserts and bubur manis.

The Selera Muhibbah is an event that offers exceptional opportunities to dine, spend quality time with family and bask in fabulous surroundings. On top of it, you will also contribute to the underprivileged.
The grandeur and opulence of the surrounding coupled with the familiar taste of our hometown should definitely be on everyone's iftat/buka puasa wishlist for 2018!
