A'bloom April 2019 New Launching Review

Fans of Althea!
Hear me out, drop everything in hand,
and start adding all the A'bloom products into your shopping cart

A'bloom is an independent brand under Althea Exclusives so it is completely separate than all the other Althea products (Althea Collection).
But what you should know is that, Althea is not only a site that gathers all of the latest and best K-beauty products on one site and ships these products out globally from Korea,
they've also started venturing into curating their very own products,
based on their knowledge on consumer needs.
Therefore, you could always expect only the best products with thoughtful ingredients
but most of the time without a staggering price point.

As A'bloom is newly launched in April, they don't have the biggest range of products just yet,
but these products are enough to fill the gaps in the current Althea collection.
Here I will dissect each product and share with you my thoughts on each and every product.

Blackheads is probably the ultimate death of a flawless skin,
almost all skin types struggle with blackheads,
but it's more common amongst oily skin type,
and it's well-established that it's a pain to get rid of them,
without compromising the tissue structure while making sure the removal is thorough.
Some uses a pin to prick through the skin,
while others use blackheads stickers / peel off mask,
both of which do more harm to the skin layers than good.

To tackle the tricky question of keeping the pores clean while taking care of the skin's protective layers, A'bloom has released the BHA Blackhead Blaster
a quick and efficient triple treatment which is targeted at blackheads, whiteheads and dead skin while being gentle on the skin!

A'bloom BHA Blackhead Blaster is formulated with natural ingredients which are known to exfoliate the skin on the surface layer while effective at penetrating into the deeper layers of the skin to unclog pores.

Some of the key ingredients include:
Natural BHA aka Salicylic Acid that's oil soluble; effectively unclogs pores
Apricot seed powder absorbs excess sebum
Charcoal draw impurities from the pores
Tea tree leaf oil with antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties

How to:
Dampens the skin, apply the stick directly on targeted areas and massage in circular motions for
30 seconds. After that, rinse off with water.

Verdict:
I really love how convenient it is to use this,
it requires no time at all,
you could just incorporate this as part of your daily cleansing routine.
The twist up stick is small and handy to be carried around,
and I love how cute the packaging is!
I also adore how the stick comes in dark colours,
so that they look pristine at all times!
Personally, I prefer using it after washing my face with lukewarm water,
when my face is free of grime and dirt,
and while my face is still damp.
I will just rub the stick in a circular motion around the oilier parts of my face,
i.e. T zone and chin area.
I will go over a few times
and enhanced the dissolving effects my massaging those applied areas with a circular motion before rinsing with water.
Lukewarm water helps open up the pores, which helps with more effective cleansing.
I have found that by doing this consistently,
the sides of my nose, where I get most congestion,
has improved a lot in terms of clarity.
It also helps with sebum control throughout the day now that my pores are cleansed.
One thing though, just make sure you hydrate your skin well each time after using this.
For those who do not have oily skin,
use this 2-3 times a week so that it doesn't dry out the skin too much.
All in all, I really loved how convenient it is to use this,
and how it works effectively without having to spend a lot of time and money on it.

Next up, we have the trendiest and probably the best beauty tool invention ever,
the blending sponge.
And it's called the A'bloom Meringue Puffs!

Some people have stayed away from using blending sponges on their skin because of their allergic reaction to latex.
If you are one of them, then rejoice!
As the A'bloom Meringue puffs are made out of non-latex sponge with hydrophilic properties which will expand 1.5 times in size when soaked with water.
These sponges are great to be used dampen or dry.

How to:
For dewy skin / glass skin look:
Dampen the sponge under running water and wring out as much water as you can with a cloth,
apply foundation or any cream product directly onto your skin,
and start stamping the meringue puffs on the skin to evenly spread the product.
For matte application:
Use the sponge dry, apply the products directly onto the sponge or on the skin, and stamp the products around the skin to blend the products into a flawless finish.
Use the Giant meringue puff for foundation all over the face and Baby Meringue Puffs for precise application.

Verdict:
First of all, I love the concept of these sponges and how affordable they are when compared to the other blending sponges in the market.
They are also absolutely squishy and comes in the cutest shape ever.
I personally prefer using dampen sponge as I love adding a bit of hydration and glow onto the skin.
These meringue puffs expand incredibly quick under running tap water,
but I have found out either due to its shape or the nature of the material,
it can be slightly difficult to wring all the water out of the sponges.
With regards to application, although I love how bouncy and gentle they are on the skin,
and how it blends product out seamlessly,
I have found that they are probably not the most ergonomic.
Although I appreciate the tiny pointed top of the sponges for detailed and precise blending,
I have found that the small surface makes gripping them a little challenging.
With that said, I would still highly recommend these meringue puffs to anyone who uses a lot of cream or liquid products for how soft and affordable they are.
The pastel colours also work as a great indicator of how often we should wash the puffs and if they're well cleaned.

And last but not least,
also probably the most exciting range from the line,
incredibly affordable sheet masks!
Koreans absolutely love their sheet masks so honestly, I am not surprised that they are launching sheet masks too.
In fact I am more than excited because I know they are changing the sheet masks game by making them not only affordable but easily accessible!

There are a total of 4 variants, all of which are based around fruits theme.

A'Bloom Refreshing Skin Mask Pack- Fruits Mask Pack
(1 sheet RM2; 10 sheets at RM15)
A'bloom Moisturizing Watermelon Mask Sheet; Nourishing Avocado Mask Sheet; Brightening Lemon Lime Mask Sheet; Anti-Blemish Peach Mask Sheet

A'bloom Moisturizing Watermelon Mask
Moisturising Watermelon mask, as the name suggests, is targeted at those with dry or dehydrated skin.
It is formulated with natural amino acid, Citrulin and Betain, which form a natural moisturising membrane on the skin which provides hydration to the skin while preventing water loss.
It also contains lavender extract to soothe sensitive skin.

Abloom Nourishing Avocado Mask Sheet
This mask is formulated with avocado extract, which is high in Vitamin E tocopherol, an antioxidant that fights free radical thereby prevents skin damage and aging.
It also contains hibiscus flower extract, which is high in anthocyanin, another antioxidant.
All of these ingredients retain the fatty acids membrane of the skin, of which when intact, provides the skin with a smoother appearance and plumper looking skin.

A'bloom Brightening Lemon Lime Mask Sheet
Rich in vitamin C from the citrus fruits, Lemon and Lime, and green tea extracts,
this mask repairs the skin and brightens the skin's complexion with consistent usage.

A'bloom Anti-Blemish Peach Mask Sheet
Derived from peach extract, these sheet masks are packed with nature sourced retinol aka Vitamin A which increase the cell's turnover rate, by shedding dead skin cells more effectively to prevent the accumulation of dead skin cells in the pores which leads to congestion and inflammation hence acne.
It also has antimicrobial properties thanks to its tea tree extract to take care of the pesky zits caused by P. Acne bacteria.

How to:
Prep your cleansed face with toner, remove the mask from a new mask pack each time, place the sheet mask on the skin, open up the sheet, get rid of any air bubbles, leave it on for 10-20 minutes. Make sure that the sheet is not dried out throughout the entire time. Take off the mask and gently pat the residue essence until fully absorbed.

Verdict:
These sheet masks are made from 100% natural and eco-friendly fabric so it is absolutely thin and lightweight, which helps adhere onto the skin so much better, but it also means you will have to handle it with care without tearing it.
These sheet masks do not have a strong fragrance, which I think is an added bonus for those who are especially sensitive to fragrance.
The serum that comes in the sheet masks is actually thicker than what I am used to.
It has a thick and creamy texture, which during masking, actually helps retainment on the sheet better and slows down evaporation,
but I do find that it will actually leave a sticky residue behind.
But it is easily taken care of,
all you have to do is just to pat until the product is absorbed,
then rinse your face again with water,
or go over your face once with a toner and a cotton pad before applying subsequent skin care.
So far I have tried one of each variant and I have found myself particularly drawn to the A'bloom Anti-trouble Peach sheet mask, probably because of my oily and acne prone skin type.
I would notice instantly calmer skin the next day, and my skin also appeared smoother and brighter in the morning; and the A'bloom Moisturising Watermelon Mask, especially now that I have an 8-6 job which requires me to sit under the A/C for the said hours. I found that the moisturizing mask does a very good job at replenishing hydration to my skin while forming a protective layer over my skin to prevent further water loss. My skin secreted less sebum the next day, and it's a sign of a well-hydrated skin.
