Dolly Dim Sum @ Pavillion Elite

Referring to my previous blog post here, you would have known that Dolly Dim Sum is no stranger to me, in fact I have raved about my overall experience in my previous blog post.

So it only makes sense that I got a little too excited for the opening of a dolly dim sum branch at the Pavilion Elite KL.

Upon arriving at the entrance of Dolly Dim Sum, I must admit that I felt very disappointed.
Not only do they have a much much much smaller premise, their decor wasn't on par with what they have at Avenue K too.

I knew it deep down, what we have here was going to differ by a lot with the one in Avenue K.
But, still I was hoping that it would prove me wrong.

Honestly speaking, their decor wasn't ALL THAT BAD. I mean, they are fine.
It's still considered very nicely done, they had the portrait of an oriental lady, the abundance of dim sum baskets as the wall ornaments.
They kept the essence.
But I guess the lack of natural light was what made this place felt somewhat, cheap and not as attractive.

Me and my unfazed man. Haha!

Still remembering vividly how we adored their salted custard buns, we decided to order it again and see if they lived up to our expectations.

It was quite all right.
Extremely runny custard, the harmonious blend of sweet and savoury tastes,
all wrapped in a steamy hot bun,
there's nothing not to like about them!

The sweet sour fu chok though was a bit of a let down.
I mean it was okay, but it was merely ok.
Nothing fascinating.

Char Siew (Chicken) Chee Cheong Fan.

It was yet another mediocre food.

Steamed radish cake that we used to love.
It turned out to be rather soggy.

Overpriced meat balls which weren't made from the freshest ingredients and definitely lacked a whole ton of flavours.

All in all, this place served pretty mediocre yet overpriced dim sum.
It was a great place to hop into should you get attacked by a sudden dim sum crave while you're shopping, but I wouldn't travel all the way just to eat them.
