The Best of Both Worlds - The Tokyo Restaurant x Creme De La Creme

Creme de la Creme Damansara Uptown to behold this exploding cuteness.

I am pretty sure that I'd hopped on the pho bandwagon long before anyone else did. 

So I guess it's fair to claim myself for having really high standard for pho?

That aside, I finally pulled my arse out to try out this Vietnamese cuisine place, 

probably more notorious for its young and contemporary decor than the food they offer. 

Well, at least that was how I came to know this place. 

We knew the hype was there, but what we didn't know was that we would be held on a waiting list due to a huge crowd. 

I clearly wasn't fully aware that the Pho trend has taken over our nation. 

Anyway, consider ourselves lucky for our small group (2 pax), 

and not minding any sort of seating, 

we were able to get ourselves a table fairly quickly. 

But I must say it wasn't a pleasant experience having to squeeze through the throng of hoomans to get to our seats, 

and having our table filled to the brim that we had to practically eat with so much caution. 

Of course, huge crowd means zero photo opportunity, 

so it really didn't matter even if the place was cute? 

"The" iconic neon sign where many Instagram posts were produced. 

I didn't have any luck with the neon sign as it was packed to the brim when I visited. 

Lemongrass Tea (RM7.90 per pot)

Incredibly overpriced for what it is.
Just essentially a teabag in a pot of hot water.
And the funny thing about lemongrass tea is that it no longers taste and smell as fragrant after the second refill.
But if you like the scent of lemongrass and the sense of refreshment it gives after a bowl of heavy-duty beef ingestion,
I would still recommend it. 

Sauteed Sliced Lamb with lemongrass, onions & crispy spring roll RM18.90

It's really uncommon to see Vietnamese stores selling lamb,

so I'd think of it as a plus point, 

especially for those who don't take beef. 

The lamb was really nicely sauteed,

it was fragrant and flavourful without overpowering the natural flavour of the lamb, 

but still keeping the natural flavour at a minimum, 

so the overall olfactory experience was above satisfactory.

Judging from the flavour, texture and all the ingredients used,
this bowl should've been given a 10/10,
but I had to take a few points off for its rather small portion.
I really like how the soup was boiled long enough to have the beef aroma diffused into it,
while being absolutely light and refreshing. 

To be honest,

now with more and more Vietnamese restaurants filling up the eatery scene in Malaysia, 

or more precisely KL / PJ area, 

I don't think this place is top on my to-recommend list anymore. 

That said, it's still worth a try, especially the sauteed sliced lamb dish.
